HIPEC and Cytoreductive Surgery

HIPEC is a two-step procedure that treats certain types of cancer in the abdomen. The cancer is surgically removed and a heated chemotherapeutic drug is injected directly into the abdomen to kill all remaining cancer cells.

Cytoreductive Surgery aims to reduce the number of cancer cells by removing the primary tumor or metastatic deposits in order to minimize the burden on potential immunosuppressive tumors, relieve symptoms, and prevent complications. It is an approach to cancer treatment.
